Craft Beer Tourism in Japan- Mya Brew, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture
Just five stops by subway from Nagoya Station, and when you emerge onto the surface from Ikenoue Station on the Higashiyama Line, you arrive at a place that feels like a blend of the city center and the suburbs. Instead of chain restaurants, famous eateries, family diners, and luxury car dealerships lining the area, my first impression was of a landscape featuring a 29-story high-rise apartment building, clustered commercial buildings, and scenery that’s not easily seen in Tokyo. From Ikenoue Station, I walked to the building located on the first floor of a large, three-lane road, which was home to my destination, Mya-Brew.

Address: 1F, Onishi Building, 33-5 Kandamachi, Chikusa-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture
It takes about 7-8 minutes to walk from Ikenoue Station along the Nagoya Loop Line. The building, covered in fine white tiles, has a glass window revealing the interior, and the handwritten-style characters of "Mya-Brew" on the wall give a vague sense of the shop’s atmosphere.

On a quiet, early Saturday afternoon, with the store opening at noon, only one likely regular customer was inside, and a peaceful, calm atmosphere filled the space. It felt fitting for the name of the shop.
Upon entering, the left side features a counter, and on the right, there are table seats. The brewing equipment can be seen through glass at the back.

This microbrewery mainly specializes in sour craft beers. On this day, I ordered the DH Sour IPA called “KR1WIN.”

When I heard the name "Mya," I initially thought it was a playful nod to Nagoya-ben (the dialect), but looking at the coaster and glass illustrations, it might stem from the sound a cat makes. Since "Kronenwin," the DH Sour IPA, pairs well with fried foods, I unexpectedly ordered an onion ring dish made with beer batter.
