Craft Beer Tourism in Japan - CRAFTBEER KEG NAGOYA, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture
Near Nagoya Station, the gateway to Nagoya, there are two subway stations: Sakae Station on the Higashiyama Line and Hisaya-odori Station on the Sakura-dori Line. Above these stations is Hisaya-odori Park, which houses the former Nagoya TV Tower, designated as an important cultural property of Japan. (After the transition from analog to digital broadcasting, it was renamed MIRAI TOWER in 2020.)
The Sakae area around Nagoya TV Tower has been a major commercial district with department stores, restaurants, cafes, and more, even more so than the area around Nagoya Station. CRAFTBEER KEG NAGOYA is located near this iconic Nagoya TV Tower.

Nagoya TV Tower is closer to Hisaya-odori Station, and CRAFTBEER KEG NAGOYA is about a 3-minute walk from Hisaya-odori Station and about a 5-minute walk from Sakae Station. The Nagoya TV Tower is beautifully illuminated at night.

I had visited this place once before with colleagues, but didn't have much time to fully enjoy the beer since I wasn't alone. This time, I revisited alone for a rematch. The interior has counter seats and table seats, with the table seats facing the large open windows overlooking the street, providing an open atmosphere during the day. On this day, I took a counter seat at the end, as recommended by the staff, with my back to the window.

The first beer I ordered was Que Onda, a Mexican lager.

Although this is a direct-operated brewpub of Y.Market in Nagoya, in addition to their own craft beers, they also offer a selection of renowned brands from all over Japan. As I was pondering what to order next while drinking, the staff kindly shared various information with me.

The second beer I had was MAD HEAT, a Chill Lager style beer made with chili peppers.

You can feel the spicy kick of the chili peppers after drinking it. According to the staff, there is another Y.Market direct-operated brewpub called Nagoroba, about a 5-minute walk from CRAFTBEER KEG NAGOYA, which only serves their own brewed beers. I plan to visit there another day.
